Proper Disrespect for False Authority

Asentient Bogs?

Yechhhh! Rained last night and supposedly into today. Gym population back up, primarily a return of weight lifting autarks so the atmosphere was one of high humidity and arrogance. And I am off shortly to Huntsville, Nawth Alibam’s shining city on the hill for the annual pump inspection.

Hence, I was a bit heartened by a blot on CNET, [Link] not that such can be taken at face since by definition a professional blogger is one who is paid to blog and therefore is not a blogger. The subject is a rather tortuous connection with Gooey’s ostensibly new OS.

Thus far I have not been impressed. The Gooey OS seems little better than their search engine although how it will make money directly is not yet obnoxious. Much as it pains me to say so, in objectivity I have to acknowledge that MegaHard’s latest search engine is the better part of an order-of-magnitude better than Gooey’s. Unless one is searching for merchants who pay for hits, that is. It somehow seems representative of the depravity of Gooey that the highest rankings in search are given to vendors who do not even purvey the goods searched for, when goods are searched for. When one searches for actual factual information the response is chaotic and odious.

Anyway, the mediaist quotes a survey on netbooks – obviously the *HOT* thing! to journalist about – and their OS. The conclusions are unsurprising.

“Because the vast majority of people who buy Netbooks are consumers, who do not have a high degree of knowledge of the key players in the OS market, they are going with the names that they know. And in PCs, that name is Microsoft.”

Consumer seems to increasingly mean asentient bog.

I could gripe about the condescending tone towards Linux, especially is flaw of being “fractured”. I shall refrain. Anything that keeps consumers away from Linux is a boon. At least to me.
